A LEICHT TOUCH
A contemporary kitchen adds cachet to a traditional Cape Cod Home. The Port Streets in Newport Beach are known for two things: lots of kids (up to 50 on a block) and lots of traditional architecture. Block after block of the Harbor View Homes community feature an Eastern Seaboard smorgasbord of styles, dominated by Hamptons and Cape Cod residences. Tami and Robert Hanna were almost finished raising their children in their Cape Cod home which they had built 18 years ago when they decided it was time for a kitchen upgrade.
Instead of keeping it strictly traditional, however, Tami decided to take the kitchen into a more contemporary terrain, swapping out the dark walnut floor, white cabinets and ocher expected elements for something more architecturally striking.
Enter Leicht, Germany's number one premiere kitchen brand with showrooms worldwide. Known for high-performing, streamlined kitchens, Leicht might have been an unlikely source to create a transitional space within a Cape Cod home, but designers worked with the Hanna's to create a culinary hub that appeals to distinct design palettes.
"We worked with Tami to co-create an amazing kitchen that still works with the rest of the home," says Tanya Anderson, Senior Designer at Leicht. "We included elements like a white sink as opposed to stainless steel, and open shelves, that give the space a more traditional feel."
